The annual North Carolina Christmas Festival and Parade will be held in Leland on Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a tree lighting December 12 at 6 p.m. at the Leland Town Hall Park. The parade is from 10 a.m.-noon, and will follow Village Road from the First Baptist Church to the North Brunswick Shopping Center. Immediately following the parade, the free Christmas Festival will begin and last until 4:30 p.m. There will be food vendors, children’s entertainment, lots of music and dance troupe performances.


The 2nd Annual 12 Tastes of Christmas will be held Friday, December 12 from 7-10 p.m. at the Brooklyn Arts Center, 516 N. 4th St., Wilmington. This holiday tasting party to benefit adult literacy in the Cape Fear area. The all-inclusive benefit will feature 12 food and drink pairings, music and more – all in the spirit of the season. Tickets are $30 and include food/drink tasters. Cocktail or festive attire encouraged!


Come experience a Coastal Carolina Christmas on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12-13 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 16 North 16th St., Wilmington. This is a fundraiser to benefit the Wilmington Boys Choir, Samaritan Ministry, and Mother Hubbards Cupboard.

Friday Dec 12: Ceremony of Carols followed by champagne and chocolate reception. Featuring the Wilmington Boys Choir at St. Paul’s and the St. Paul’s Choir, plus…a carol sing-along.

Saturday Dec 13: Christmas Cabaret, an evening of jazz and standards with Grenoldo Frazier. Dinner by the bite, wine pairings, and seasonal cider plus a silent auction. Admission. See more detailed information on

Downtown Wilmington is a food lover’s dream, and the Wilmington NC Food Walking Tour gets to the heart of this delicious area. You’ll get to sample 7 downtown restaurants, experience food and drinks, meet the city’s top chefs and go inside one of its best kitchens. The Children’s Museum of South Carolina invites families to come have Brunch with Santa and Frosty the Snowman this holiday season. Join Santa and Frosty for brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, December 23 at the Children’s Museum of South Carolina. The cost is $6 for members or $12 for non-members. You must register in advance as seating is limited.

Plenty of excitement can be found at the 9th Annual Ocean Isle Beach Flotilla that will take place on Saturday, November 24, 2012. The Boat Parade begins at dusk at the Shallotte River in front of Inlet View Bar & Grill and proceeds down the Waterway to the commercial canal in front of Sharky’s. Lots Going on For Labor Day Weekend

With the arrival of Labor Day Weekend, summer turns to fall in the blink of an eye. But autumn is still a beautiful time of year to be enjoying a beach vacation. Baldhead Island Labor Day Music Extravaganza takes place from Aug. 31 and September 2, 2012. You can dance the weekend away with Bald Head Island’s signature beach music bash! Weekend events include the Coastal Carolina Bash, Harbourside Pavilion Picnic and a Texas BBQ too good to miss.

The local Labor Day Sand Sculpture Contest is being held from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the beach behind Community Center, 44 East 1st Street, Ocean Isle Beach. There’s a Children’s Division – up to age 13 and a Family Division – 4 adults and no limit on children. Trophies and prizes will be awarded in all divisions. Don’t miss it!

Oak Island Art Guild’s 23rd Annual Arts & Crafts Festival takes place on Saturday Sep. 1, 2012. This annual Labor Day Weekend festival celebrates local and regional artists and craftspeople that will be displaying and selling their handmade goods. The festival takes place at Middleton Park Extension Soccer Field, 46th SE Street & Dolphin Drive, Oak Island.

On June 22, 2012 the Ocean Isle Beach Concert Series is under way from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Continental Divide performs on the stage in the parking lot at Museum of Coastal Carolinas on Ocean Isle Beach. On June 29, 2012 Holiday Band performs at this same location. These events are free and open to the public.

The Ocean Isle Beach 4th of July Parade will be held on July 4, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m. Decorated floats, golf carts and bicycles will be judged and prizes awarded. Line up in Museum of Coastal Carolinas parking lot at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day is when we honor the nation’s fallen heroes. A day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States armed forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the Civil War to commemorate the fallen Union soldiers.


This weekend also marks the start of the summer season nationwide so if you haven’t made your vacation plans it’s definitely time. People of all generations will gather together on May 28, 2012 at the Battleship Wilmington to pay their respects. This annual Memorial Day Ceremony has been observed for the last 47 years and is honored to have guest speaker, Major General Rodney O. Anderson at the 2012 event. This emotional ceremony begins and ends with military musical arrangements provided by the Army Ground Forces Band. The public is invited to this free event.

Annual Tree Lighting and Concerts

As part of the City of Wilmington’s annual downtown Christmas Tree Lighting, the ship will be illuminated from the bow, up to the masts and down to the stern. It will be nightly from dusk until 11:00 p.m. until December 31 with the best view from downtown Wilmington.

The Brunswick County Concert Band Christmas Concert takes place on December 2, 2011 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Featuring Brunswick County Concert Band, Big Band, and BLT Singers performing at Hatch Auditorium, Caswell Beach. This is a free event.

Calabash’s 16th Annual Tree Lighting launches with a Spirit of Calabash Christmas Golf Cart Parade marching down Beach Drive on December 2 starting at 6 p.m. Holiday music, live entertainment from the West Brunswick High School band, cookies and cocoa and a visit from Santa! The festivities traditionally culminate with a candle lighting, as candles are handed out among the crowd. Callahan’s Gifts Parking Lot, Calabash, NC.
